What does the HydraFacial do?

The HydraFacial non-invasively improves the elasticity, hydration, tone, clarity, texture, and pore size of the treated skin to achieve an instantly glowing complexion. The HydraFacial is safe, effective, and beneficial for patients of all ages and skin tones.

In addition to its overall effects on the skin’s health and appearance, the HydraFacial allows patients to select a “booster” serum for enhanced focus on a specific concern. HydraFacial booster options include Calm, Smooth & Refine, Restore & Firm, Hydrate, Brighten, Eye, and Lip. The HydraFacial involves little to no recovery and is a perfect facial to prepare for a vacation or special occasion or regular treatment.

How does the HydraFacial work?

The HydraFacial is a multi-step, customizable procedure designed to improve treated skin's overall health and appearance while delivering special nutrients for targeted concerns.

The first step in the process focuses on exfoliation to rid the skin of dull, dead cells and other surface debris. Next, a gentle and nutrient-rich peel delivers deep hydration while releasing deeply embedded residue from pores.

The third step focuses on clearing newly-released debris and any remaining sebum or other particles from the pores using suction. While other methods of extraction can involve painful pinching, our St. Louis HydraFacial approach is gentler and more comfortable, while also being more effective. Lastly, a specially formulated serum delivers intense nutrition and hydration. This serum improves the skin’s tone, texture, elasticity, and oiliness and can be combined with a “booster” to deliver focused attention to a variety of concerns.

While every patient is different, results from the HydraFacial typically last a few weeks. Most patients schedule their HydraFacial once a month to maintain their glow.

Am I a candidate for the HydraFacial?

The HydraFacial is one of the most universally beneficial medical-grade treatments available. It is equally effective for adolescents dealing with hormonal acne and older patients fighting signs of aging. The procedure is so popular at our practice that we own eight Hydrafacial towers, and they are all always busy!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the risks and side effects of the HydraFacial?

The HydraFacial is generally very well tolerated and should not cause redness, discomfort, or swelling like other treatments.

Who should not get the HydraFacial?

While the HydraFacial is a nearly universally beneficial treatment, there are some conditions that may contraindicate this treatment. Patients with an active skin infection in the treatment area. If you are pregnant, please inform your esthetician so accomodations can be made.

What is the difference between the HydraFacial and microdermabrasion?

The HydraFacial and microdermabrasion both use mechanical exfoliation to remove debris and dead cells from the target area. However, while the HydraFacial uses nutrient-packed serums and solutions to exfoliate and energize the skin, microdermabrasion sands the skin with small abrasive crystals and has no extraction or infusion steps.

Can the HydraFacial cause breakouts?

The HydraFacial has been shown to significantly increase skin clarity and decrease sebum production. However, some patients may experience skin purging after their treatment (especially if it is their first treatment). As the HydraFacial’s active ingredients work their magic within the skin, the skin pushes out excess sebum, blackheads, and dead cells. Skin purging is an indication that treatment is effective and an important step toward a bright, clear complexion.
