Dermal Fillers can do so much more than fill lines! Watch Dr. Nayak use a combination of Juvederm and Restylane fillers to perform a non-surgical under eye and mid-facelift in under 10 minutes with no anesthesia, no surgery, and no recovery!
Achieving truly beautiful, balanced facial rejuvenation can often require 3-10 syringes of Dermal Fillers. Considering that 5 syringes of filler is equal to just 1 teaspoon of volume, it is easy to see how correcting sunken temples, under eye bags, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and enhancing the jawline can require more than 1 or 2 syringes of filler.
In order to achieve truly beautiful results, Nayak Plastic Surgery & Avani Derm Spa offer the following multiple-syringe values (must all be used in one visit):
Dermal Fillers work by supporting the dermal layer by actually filling in areas where volume has been lost or where there are shadows. For instance, fillers are used in the mid-face to build cheeks, in the cheekbone area, under the eyes in the tear trough, in the nasolabial folds and marionette lines (smile lines as they are often referred to), to add fullness to the lips and fill superficial lines above the lip line, to build the chin, and even to restore the jawline or hide jowls.
Our providers only use hyaluronic acid gel fillers, as they are the most forgiving, least likely to form lumps or bumps, and can be dissolved with a hyaluronidase injection if necessary. These fillers include the Restylane family of products and JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gels. Each filler has different characteristics, including thickness/body, longevity, and versatility. Thicker, heavier fillers last longer but must be placed deeper in the skin to prevent lumpiness.
Best used for: Nasolabial folds, marionette lines, cheeks/cheekbones, and jawline areas. Thinner fillers don’t last as long or lift deep folds as well, but can safely be used to fill lips and more superficial lines in delicate areas. Best used for: lip lines, lip enhancement, and tear troughs. Your provider will determine the best options for you based on your goals and concerns. Patients are welcome to fly in for same-day consultation and treatment, and can return home the same day!
Dermal fillers take about ten minutes and are done comfortably by prepping with numbing cream alone. Typically, numbing cream is applied to the area being treated with Dermal Fillers to anesthetize the area before the treatment begins. Often all that is necessary for a comfortable injection experience. For lip filler injections, the option of numbing with two tiny lidocaine injections – a “dental block” – is available. These blocks make for painless lip filler injections and are completely optional. In particular areas of the face, we also employ the cannula technique to further enhance comfort and lessen the risk of bruising following filler injections.
Our injectors employ a special instrument called a “cannula” to perform the majority of fillers in a way that is nearly painless and usually generates no significant bruising. This technique has received considerable national and international attention, with patients coming to St. Louis for this procedure from across the US and Canada!
Swelling is common with treatment of the under-eye area, which usually occurs the next day and can last for 2-4 days. It is also common for swelling to occur when treating other areas.
Significant bruising is possible but rare. It is recommended that patients avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, Motrin/ibuprofen, Aleve/Naprosyn, fish oil, vitamin E, and flaxseed oil for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
To further minimize bruising, we recommend avoiding exercise for 24 hours after treatment. We also offer Ocumend Gel Pads, designed to deliver anti-bruising and anti-swelling agents directly to the affected area! No other aftercare is required.
Anytime an injection is performed, bruising may occur. Our providers do their best to minimize bruising by using advanced cannula techniques to inject, holding pressure, and providing anti-bruising enzyme capsules. If you do bruise, our esthetic staff will attempt to cover your bruise with makeup immediately after the injection if you like. Most bruises resolve within a week. To decrease the chance of developing a bruise, please avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, Motrin/ibuprofen, Aleve/Naprosyn, fish oil, vitamin E, and flaxseed oil for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
No! BOTOX®, Jeuveau, and Dysport work differently than fillers, by relaxing muscles in specific areas of the face that, because we use them often, wear in lines over time. The areas treated with Botox are the crow’s feet, the space between the brows, which is called the Glabella, and the tail of the eyebrow, for a “chemical brow lift”. These are all areas that are not safe to use filler. Botox and Dysport can also effectively end sweaty palms or underarms!
Any history of allergies to the filler ingredients is the main contraindication. Patients on coumadin or other prescription blood thinners are also at a much higher risk of dramatic bruising.
